Why Sharing Your Testimony with Your Kids Strengthens Their Faith
Share
As Christian parents, one of the most powerful gifts we can give our children is our testimony—the personal story of how God has worked in our lives. The Bible says in Revelation 12:11, “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Our stories of God’s faithfulness are weapons of faith, and our kids need to hear them.
Too often, we tell our children Bible stories without sharing how we’ve experienced God for ourselves. But when we open up about the ways He has healed, provided, forgiven, and led us, we make faith real to them. It’s no longer just “Mom and Dad’s religion”—they begin to see God as personal, powerful, and present in their own lives.
1. Testimony Strengthens Their Faith
When children hear how you’ve experienced God, they begin to believe that He is real and active today. It connects the truth of Scripture to living proof in your life. Like Job said in Job 42:5, “My ears had heard of You but now my eyes have seen You.” Your testimony shows your kids that faith isn’t just talk—it’s reality.
2. Testimony Reminds Them God is Faithful
Your story of how God came through in difficult times reassures your children that He can do the same for them. When they face struggles, they’ll remember what you shared and know that they can call on the same God who helped you.
3. Testimony Helps Pass Down Faith
In Deuteronomy 6:6–7, parents are told to teach God’s truth to their children daily. Part of that is weaving our own faith journey into those conversations. Testimonies are not just history—they are legacy. When your kids hear what God has done for you, they begin to expect Him to move in their lives too.
4. Testimony Gives Them Hope for Their Own Story
Sharing how God has worked in your life reminds your children that He is writing their story as well. Ephesians 3:20 says He can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” Your testimony shows them that God is not limited—and neither are His plans for them.
How to Share Your Testimony with Your Kids
-
Keep it simple—don’t overcomplicate your story.
-
Be age-appropriate—share at a level your children can understand.
-
Be real—don’t just tell the good, but how God carried you through the hard.
-
Make it ongoing—testimonies aren’t one-time events, but everyday reminders.
Final Encouragement
Parents, don’t underestimate the power of your story. Your kids need to know that the God of the Bible is the God of your life, too. By sharing your testimony, you plant seeds of faith that will carry them through their own struggles and victories.
If God did it for you, He can—and will—do it for them. 💕
