Wake Up, Parents – It's Not Too Late to Turn Things Around
Share
If you’ve been feeling like it’s too late to turn things around in your parenting—you’re not alone. Maybe you didn’t start out raising your children in the Word. Maybe your house feels chaotic or disconnected. Maybe you’re carrying guilt. But here’s the truth: God is a redeemer, and it’s not too late.
Parenting Is a Spiritual Battle
We are not just dealing with behavior—we are dealing with souls. Our kids aren’t just struggling with moods or attitudes; they are under constant spiritual attack. The enemy is after their identity, their faith, their future being in Christ.
Ephesians 6:12 says, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers... against spiritual wickedness in high places."
You’re not just correcting a tantrum—you’re training your child how to handle their emotions. Because adults who throw tantrums lose their jobs, their relationships, or even their freedom. You’re building discipline, character, and godly identity.
Start Where You Are
Maybe you didn’t grow up with godly parenting. Maybe you feel like you missed your chance. But the good news is, God restores what was lost.
Joel 2:25 says, "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten."
Start small. Read one verse a day together. Pray over your kids. Speak life into them. You don’t need a perfect plan—you need a willing heart and prayer to the one who change fix it all.
Set the Culture in Your Home
If your children know every word to the latest song but can’t quote a single verse, it’s time to shift the atmosphere. Replace worldly noise with worship and praise to our Father in Heaven. Swap out chaos for peace. Put the Word of God back at the center of your home.
Joshua 24:15 says, "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Your home should reflect who your family serves. Let God set the tone. Let God be your guide. You do that by allowing Him into your day to day life. Praying before you wake up, praying throughout the day, thanking Him for all He does in your life.
Discipline With Love, Not Guilt
Discipline is an act of love. Our Heavenly Father corrects those He loves—so we must do the same for our children. Let go of the fear that you’re being "too strict."
Proverbs 3:12 says, "For the Lord corrects those He loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights."
Correction isn’t rejection—it’s protection. Set boundaries with grace. Say "no" when needed. Be firm, but always be loving. Kid will always test boundaries so being firm on you "no" is very important
Pray, Don’t Panic
You might feel overwhelmed. But prayer is your greatest tool. When you feel helpless, remember: you are never hopeless with God.
Philippians 4:6 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
Cover your children in prayer daily. Speak Scripture over them as well as teach it to them. Ask God to fill the gaps where you fall short. Remember it isn't about being perfect its about having a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and making Him known to our children.
My Final Encouragement
Parenting is hard. But you don’t have to do it alone. God is with you. He sees your heart. He hears your prayers. And He can do more than you ask or imagine.
So mama, rise up. It’s not too late. Your home can change. Your children can grow in faith. Your legacy can be built on Christ.
